SavageBee producer Penny Beene is very happy to help out Plays and Players with their 2026 production of When Shakespeare's Ladies Meet.

This production will double as a fundraising event to replace the current Marquee at Plays and Players 1714 Delancey St., Philadelphia PA.

We are encouraging all the theatres in the area that have benefitted from working in the multiple spaces provided at Plays and Players to find time to attend this charming production and support the place many of us call home.

Dates are October 7th, 8th, and 9th beginning at 7:30.  There will be other "surprise" music and additional performances to warn up the evening prior to production.

Marie Curie was a Polish-naturalized French physicist and chemist who made ground breaking discoveries in radioactivity. With her husband Pierre, she was the first woman ever to win a Noble prize in 1903. After the death of her husband she went on to win another Noble prize for chemistry in 1911. By 1912 all the public knew was that she was accused of having an affair with a married man. Devastated by the publicity, she escaped for a time to the seaside home of her friend, Hertha Ayrton, an inventor, electromechanical engineer and noted suffragette. Both mothers and widows they explore friendship and how they remain fearless champions of scientific inquiry.
